Home Functional Assessment

A Home Functional Assessment is an in-home assessment that determines an individual's ability to function independently with their activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living and self-care tasks.

The assessment involves:

  • A review of the client's pre-accident status including medical, social and vocational history
  • Objective physical assessment (strength, range of motion, tolerances)
  • Functional assessment of the client's current abilities based on observation of the client's performance within their home
  • Environmental Safety Assessment

Recommendations are made regarding equipment needs, the need for further occupational therapy intervention, the need for housekeeping and home maintenance assistance and attendant care. The resulting report consists of time-limited recommendations to assist the client in returning to their pre-accident status.
